Mambo Heritage and the Digital Narrative Archive (DNA) Lab is a regenerative design and heritage consultancy that bridges ancient wisdom with systemic innovation, working across heritage restoration, ecological research and community led biodiversity ledgers so that every place can return to its own logic.
The practice exists for landowners, developers, cultural institutions, municipalities, boards, cohorts and researchers who need grounded evidence before they build. Every engagement opens with the Place Diagnostic, a careful reading of the land and its memory, then moves through the Design Commission, the Narrative Archive, the Materials Passport, the Living Ledger and advisory programs. Placemaking here is not decoration. It is the slow work of returning a site to its own logic, guided by local material intelligence and recorded so the outcomes remain visible long after the build is complete.
Balmoi Abe serves stewards of land and culture across East Africa and beyond: estate owners restoring heritage sites, developers seeking regenerative baselines, civic bodies repairing public space, and organisations that want their projects measured against soil, water, culture and community rather than renderings alone. Teaching and advisory extend the same method to boards, cohorts and classrooms.
The consultancy is led by Balmoi Abe, a designer whose twenty years of built work unite architecture, heritage and civic infrastructure as one system. The practice runs two ventures. Mambo Heritage is the placemaking arm, delivering restoration, custom furniture and pavilions across RIBA stages. DNA Lab is the research arm, turning cultural memory and material data into insight reports that ground every commission.
